Description
Pradraira is a small locality in the municipality of Grandas de Salime, in Asturias, on the Camino Primitivo route descending from the Acebo pass toward Galicia. The name combines prado, meaning meadow, with raira, a possible terrain descriptor, suggesting a meadow on rough or stony ground.
The setting is the transitional terrain between the exposed Asturian sierra and the enclosed green valley landscape of the Lugo interior. As the route descends from the pass, the character shifts gradually from open mountain heath to the more sheltered meadow and woodland terrain of the Galician approach.
