Description

Edit

Mosteiró is a parish in the municipality of Vila do Conde, in the Porto district. Its name derives directly from mosteiro (monastery), indicating that a monastic establishment once occupied or defined this settlement. While no significant medieval complex survives intact today, the toponym preserves the site’s ecclesiastical history.

The village occupies the typical Entre-Douro-e-Minho landscape: small cultivated plots, granite-walled fields, orchards, and vine pergolas running along field edges and over granite posts. The built environment has a traditional stone character in its older core.

Mosteiró lies on the Camino Português between the Porto metropolitan fringe and Barcelos, contributing to the gradual rural transition that characterises this section of the route.
