Description
Lorca is a small municipality in Navarra, situated in the Salado river valley on the Camino Frances between Cirauqui and Villatuerta. The village has a modest stone character, with the church of the Transfiguration of the Lord providing the main architectural point of interest.
The Salado river, whose name refers to its salty mineral content from natural salt springs, is crossed in this area. The surrounding landscape is the open Navarrese plain with vineyard and cereal cultivation on the gently rolling terrain.
For pilgrims, Lorca serves as a mid-stage passage point with limited services, the walk between Cirauqui and Estella being one of the more consistently pleasant sections for its open views and gentle terrain.
