Description
Labruja is a parish in the municipality of Ponte de Lima, in the Viana do Castelo district. It sits at the head of the Labruja river valley, in terrain that climbs away from the Lima plain toward the foothills of the Serra d’Arga. The valley is one of the more secluded corridors in this part of the Minho, with oak woodland, granite outcrops, and traditional farmsteads marking the ascent.
The village has a traditional character with stone-built houses and a parish church, and the surrounding landscape carries remnants of native broadleaf woodland alongside the vine and maize cultivation typical of the lower Lima parishes.
For pilgrims on an inland Camino variant, Labruja offers a wilder, more elevated experience compared to the main coastal-plain route.
