Description

Edit

La Magdalena is a locality at the entrance to the port town of Cudillero, in the municipality of Cudillero, in Asturias. The name refers to the Magdalena chapel that once marked this approach. The locality effectively forms the outer entry point to Cudillero, where the descent into the ravine village begins.

Cudillero itself is one of the most visually distinctive fishing ports on the Asturian coast, with its brightly painted houses stacked in tiers along a narrow ravine that descends to the harbour mouth. The tight urban formation, the painted facades, and the maritime character give the town an identity immediately recognisable on postcards and photographs of northern Spain.
