La Franca

La Franca is a coastal locality in the municipality of Ribadedeva, in Asturias, situated on a sheltered sandy beach between rocky headlands on the Atlantic coast. The beach is considered one of the more beautiful on the eastern Asturian coast, with clear water and the dramatic clifftop terrain framing the cove.

The surrounding coastal landscape is the rugged Asturian cliff coast, where the Atlantic meets the resistant limestone and sandstone of the coastal formation. The clifftop terrain above the beach carries the typical Asturian coastal scrub of gorse and heather.

For pilgrims on the Camino del Norte, La Franca offers a coastal beach stage of exceptional scenic quality, with the cove and clifftop path forming one of the more memorable sections of the eastern Asturian coast route.
