Furela

Furela is a small locality in the province of Lugo, Galicia, on the Camino Frances on the approach to Sarria. The hamlet has a quiet stone farmhouse character in the enclosed Galician valley landscape approaching the town.

The route from Furela to Sarria passes through the final enclosed valley terrain before the town, with the path opening slightly as it approaches the urban area. Sarria, visible ahead, is the last town on the Camino Frances from which the minimum 100-kilometre distance to Santiago can be completed, making it the most popular starting point for those walking only the final stages.

For pilgrims, Furela is one of the final rural passage points before the Sarria urban area, its quiet valley character a last glimpse of the enclosed Galician countryside before the town.
