Escapaes

Escapaes is a small parish in the municipality of Santa Maria da Feira, in the Aveiro district. It sits near the northern boundary of the district, where the terrain levels out from the forested interior hills toward the Porto lowland corridor.

The village has a traditional rural layout with stone buildings and agricultural land at its core. The surrounding landscape mixes smallholdings, cereal crops, and patches of woodland typical of this transitional zone between the Aveiro interior and the Porto urban fringe.

The Camino Português passes through Escapaes on a section that prepares pilgrims for the increasingly built-up environment approaching Grijo and Vila Nova de Gaia.
