Description
Cérdigo is a small locality in the municipality of Castro Urdiales, in Cantabria, situated on the clifftop terrain of the coast between Castro Urdiales and the Laredo estuary. The village occupies an elevated position above the sea with views across the Bay of Biscay and along the Cantabrian coast in both directions.
The surrounding landscape is the exposed coastal plateau of this section of the Cantabrian coast: gorse, heather, and low coastal scrub on the cliff edges, with green enclosed valleys in the sheltered terrain behind. The Camino del Norte coastal path passes through or near Cérdigo on the long clifftop section between Castro Urdiales and the crossing of the Asón estuary at Laredo.
