Description

Edit

Campelinho is a small locality in the Águeda municipality of the Aveiro district. The name, a diminutive of ‘campo’ (field), suggests an origin as a small clearing or cultivated patch within a broader landscape of scrub and woodland, which remains descriptive of the terrain today.

The settlement sits among the low hills north of Águeda town where eucalyptus plantations and maritime pine cover much of the higher ground, interspersed with small agricultural clearings. It has the dispersed, informal character typical of minor localities in this part of central Portugal, without a notable historic core or civic infrastructure.

Campelinho functions as a passage point on routes through the Águeda interior rather than as a destination in its own right, contributing to the quiet woodland texture of this section north of Águeda.
