Beschreibung
Agorreta is a small hamlet in the municipality of Erro, Navarra, situated in the valley of the Arga river on the Camino Frances between Lintzoain and Zubiri. The settlement consists of a handful of stone farmhouses set close to the river on the valley floor.
The Arga river, which pilgrims will follow downstream for much of the journey to Pamplona, is narrow and fast-moving at this point, flanked by oak and riparian woodland. The valley here is enclosed and forested, with the stone houses of Agorreta providing a small human presence in otherwise wild terrain.
On the stage from Roncesvalles to Zubiri, Agorreta falls in the lower valley section after the steep descent from the Erro ridge, typically reached in the final hour of walking before Zubiri.
