A Lastra

A Lastra is a small locality in the province of Lugo, Galicia, on the Camino Primitivo route in the mountain interior between the Fonsagrada area and the lower Lugo valleys. The name is the Galician word for a flat stone slab or bare rock surface, a toponym common across the Galician highlands where outcrops of smooth granite or schist form characteristic platform features in the terrain.

The setting is the enclosed green valley and hill landscape of the Lugo interior, where flat rock outcrops and the typical Galician combination of pasture, eucalyptus, and oak woodland alternate on the rolling terrain. For pilgrims, A Lastra is a passage point in the long interior stage heading toward Lugo.
