A Chancela is a small locality near Negreira in the province of A Coruña, Galicia. The name derives from chancela or cancela, a Galician term for a gate or enclosure barrier, the type of wooden or stone farm gate common in Galician rural landscapes. Settlements taking this name typically developed near a notable gate or enclosure on the road network.

The locality occupies the open agricultural terrain on the approach to Negreira, where the Fisterra and Muxía routes pass through smallholder farmland before reaching the town’s facilities. The surrounding landscape is characteristic of the Galician interior.
