Valdelafuente

Valdelafuente is a locality in the municipality of Valdefresno, León, on the Camino Frances in the suburban area north of León city. The settlement is on the descending terrain from the Alto del Portillo ridge toward the city, in the transitional zone where the rural approach gives way to the urban fringe of the provincial capital.

The surrounding area is characterised by industrial estates and residential development that represent the modern growth of León beyond its historic walls. The Camino path navigates through this suburban fabric on marked routes toward the city centre.

For pilgrims, Valdelafuente is a passage point on the final suburban approach to León, the industrial character a contrast with the plain stages above but quickly left behind as the historic city opens ahead.
