Description
Tivo is a small locality in the province of Pontevedra, Galicia, in the rural corridor approaching Caldas de Reis from the south. The terrain here is part of the broader Salnés valley, which is the heartland of Albariño wine production, one of the most celebrated white wines of Galicia and Spain.
The landscape reflects the distinctive viticulture of this region: vines trained high on granite pergola posts in the parral system, with maize grown beneath the vines on the valley floor. The Albariño grape thrives on the granite soils and Atlantic climate of this zone.
Tivo is a quiet rural waypoint on the Camino Português between Pontevedra and Caldas de Reis, embedded in one of Galicia’s most productive and visually distinctive agricultural landscapes.
