Description
Sernadelo is a small rural settlement in the municipality of Mealhada, located in the Aveiro district. It sits slightly elevated above the surrounding Bairrada plain, where the agricultural landscape transitions between mixed farming and the limestone-clay vineyards characteristic of the region.
The village is modest in scale, with traditional granite and schist construction typical of inland Beira Litoral villages. Its position just off the Camino Português route gives it occasional contact with pilgrims passing through the corridor between Mealhada and Aguim, though it offers limited services.
The surrounding terrain reflects the broader Bairrada identity: low rolling hills, cork oak scattered among vines, and a quiet pastoral character shaped more by agricultural rhythm than by any single historical event. Sernadelo is representative of the many unnamed settlements that stitch together the landscape between the route’s named stops.
