Queruas

Queruas is a small locality in the municipality of Valdés, in Asturias, situated in the valley terrain near Luarca. The name may derive from an archaic Asturian word related to oak or woodland, fitting for the wooded enclosed valley landscape that characterises the hinterland of the western Asturian coast.

The settlement has a modest rural character embedded in the humid Atlantic woodland and pasture typical of this part of Asturias. The valley terrain here, enclosed by forested hillsides, provides a sheltered contrast to the exposed clifftop sections of the Camino del Norte on either side.
