Description
Porcia is a small locality in the municipality of Navia or the adjacent area, in Asturias, situated in the Porcia river valley on the final western stretch of the Asturian coast. The Porcia stream is a minor watercourse draining the coastal hinterland and joining the sea near the Bay of Biscay.
The valley setting is enclosed and green, with the typical western Asturian combination of pasture, woodland, and stone farmhouses. The Galician border at the Eo estuary is a short distance to the west, and the terrain here has the humid Atlantic character shared by both regions. For pilgrims, Porcia is a passage point on the final Asturian stages before the crossing into Galicia.
