Description

Edit

Piedrahita is a small locality in the municipality of Argoños, in Cantabria, situated in the coastal terrain between the Santoña peninsula and the village of Noja. The area lies within the Parque Natural de las Marismas de Santoña, Victoria y Joyel, a protected wetland of international importance for migratory and wintering waterbirds.

The surrounding landscape is the flat coastal plain of salt marshes, dune grassland, and the low hills that frame the wetland system. The locality sits at the edge of this protected natural landscape, with the coast and marshes defining the character of the terrain.

The Camino del Norte passes through this coastal park zone on the section between Santoña and Noja, offering one of the wilder and more naturalistic stages of the Cantabrian coast route.
