Descripción
Obanos is a municipality in Navarra, situated at the junction where the Camino Aragonés, arriving from the Somport pass, unites with the Camino Frances from Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port. The union of the two principal Spanish Camino routes at this point makes Obanos an important convergence on the pilgrimage network.
The village is associated with the legend of Saint Felicia and her brother Prince William of Aquitaine, who murdered his sister here before becoming a pilgrim himself in expiation. A biennial mystery play, the Misterio de Obanos, re-enacts the legend in the village each summer.
For pilgrims, Obanos provides services and the satisfaction of approaching Puente la Reina, visible below on the plain, where the two routes merge permanently for the journey to Galicia.
