Moreira da Maia

Moreira da Maia is a parish in the municipality of Maia, in the Porto district. It occupies the northern part of the Maia territory, where dense suburban development begins to give way to a more open landscape of fields, orchards, and smaller residential clusters.

The parish has an older agricultural core alongside more recent residential growth. Its position on the Camino Português places it as a transitional waypoint between the full urban environment of Maia and the broader agricultural corridor of the Porto-Braga region.

The route through Moreira da Maia offers pilgrims early signs of the rural character that will define the stretch approaching Barcelos.
