Caraña de Arriba

Caraña de Arriba is a small locality in the municipality of Betanzos, in the province of A Coruña, Galicia, on the Camino Inglés route descending toward the historic town of Betanzos. The de Arriba designation indicates the upper of two Caraña settlements. The locality occupies the hillside terrain above Betanzos, in the transitional zone between the rural approach and the urban entry.

The descent from Caraña de Arriba gives pilgrims their first views over Betanzos and its estuarine setting, with the medieval churches and town walls becoming visible below.
