Cancienes

Cancienes is a small locality in the municipality of Corvera de Asturias, in Asturias, situated in the terrain between the inland approach from Oviedo and the Avilés estuary on the Bay of Biscay coast. The area marks the point where the Camino del Norte, after its inland detour through Oviedo, begins to approach the coast again at the Avilés industrial port.

The surrounding terrain is the transitional zone between the Asturian interior valleys and the coastal industrial environment of the Avilés estuary, where the rural and industrial landscapes coexist in the typical pattern of the central Asturian coast corridor. The Avilés ría begins to come into view on this approach.
