Descripción
Buelna is a small locality in the municipality of Ribadedeva, in Asturias, situated on the coastal terrain between La Franca and Pendueles. The village occupies the clifftop or near-coastal terrain of the eastern Asturian coast, where the route alternates between exposed cliff sections and sheltered valley passages.
The surrounding landscape combines the open Atlantic clifftop of the Asturian coast with the enclosed green valley terrain that lies behind the cliff edge. The humid Atlantic climate gives the area the lush, intensely green quality typical of the Asturian coast interior.
For pilgrims on the Camino del Norte, Buelna is a passage point on the coastal section heading toward the significant palaeontological site at Pendueles and the approach to Llanes.
