Arleta

Arleta is a small locality in Navarra situated in the immediate periphery of Pamplona, on the Camino Frances approach to the city. The settlement is effectively the last rural passage point before the Camino enters the urban fabric of Pamplona through Villava and Burlada.

The surrounding terrain at Arleta has shifted from the narrow valley paths of the Pyrenean foothills to the flat agricultural land at the edge of the Pamplona basin, with the city skyline beginning to dominate the visual horizon. Industrial and residential development has encroached on the agricultural character of the area.

For pilgrims, Arleta marks the moment of psychological transition from the pastoral Camino experience to the urban encounter with the capital of Navarra.
