Descripción
A Bailía is a small locality in the province of A Coruña, Galicia, on the Camino Inglés route. The name derives from bailía or bailia, the medieval term for the territory administered by a bailio or bailiff, an official in the service of a noble house or military order who managed estate affairs and administered justice in a defined area.
The Order of Saint John of Jerusalem maintained ballíos across Galicia and the Iberian Peninsula, and place names of this type often indicate former Order of Malta estates or jurisdictions. The surrounding terrain is the green enclosed valley landscape of the A Coruña interior.
