Description

Edit

Villapedre is a small locality in the municipality of Navia, in Asturias, situated on the elevated terrain of the western Asturian plateau between the Luarca corridor and the Navia river estuary. The name combines villa, meaning settlement, with pedre, a stone-related root, suggesting the rocky or stony character of the local terrain.

The surrounding landscape is the green rolling pastoral terrain of western Asturias, with dairy cattle pasture on the gentler slopes, mixed woodland on the steeper hillsides, and the Atlantic coast visible to the north on clear days. Traditional stone farmhouses with adjacent hórreo granaries are distributed across the plateau.
