Description
Urdaniz is a small hamlet in the municipality of Esteríbar, Navarra, situated close to Larrasoaña on the Arga river valley on the Camino Frances. The name is of Basque origin and the settlement consists of a small cluster of traditional stone houses set in the mixed woodland and meadow terrain of the valley corridor.
The hamlet is part of the sequence of small riverside settlements that the route passes through on the descent from Zubiri toward Pamplona. The Arga river is close and the path alternates between riverside woodland and the edge of cultivated fields.
For pilgrims, Urdaniz and the surrounding hamlets merge into the continuous riverside experience of this stage, each providing a brief sense of human settlement in the forested valley.
