Sansol

Sansol is a small municipality in Navarra, situated on a hilltop ridge in the Linares river valley on the Camino Frances between Los Arcos and Torres del Río. The village is perched on the northern side of the ridge, with views down the shallow valley toward its neighbour Torres del Río on the opposite hillside.

The two villages are visible to each other across the valley and are sometimes considered a natural pair, separated only by the shallow stream between them. The surrounding landscape is the open Navarrese plain approaching the Rioja border, with sunflower crops in summer and wheat stubble in autumn dominating the fields.

For pilgrims, the descent from Sansol and ascent to Torres del Río is a short but memorable double-village passage, each hilltop offering elevated views over the plain.
