Descripción
San Justo de la Vega is a municipality in the province of León, on the Camino Frances as the last village before the Roman city of Astorga. The village occupies the flat valley floor beside the Tuerto, with Astorga visible on the plateau above as a sudden dramatic appearance after the flat approach.
The Tuerto river crossing here is the last before Astorga, and the ascent from the valley floor to the city plateau is relatively short but clear, the Roman walls and cathedral of Astorga appearing on the horizon above the fields.
For pilgrims, San Justo de la Vega provides services and the anticipation of Astorga, whose Roman heritage and Gaudí bishop’s palace make it one of the most culturally rich stops of the late León stages.
