Description
Requejada is a locality in the municipality of Polanco, in Cantabria, situated in the Pas river valley near the coast. The village is associated with the cooperative dairy industry of the Pas valley, which has been one of the most significant dairy-producing regions in Spain since the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
The surrounding landscape is the fertile Pas valley floor, with green meadows, dairy cattle pasture, and the enclosed valley hills that give the area its characteristic lush quality. Traditional stone farmhouses are distributed across the slopes and valley edges.
For pilgrims on the Camino del Norte, Requejada lies on the valley section between Santander and Santillana del Mar, in one of the more agriculturally productive and visually green corridors of the Cantabrian coast route.
