Pedreiras

Pedreiras is a small locality in the province of A Coruña, Galicia, on the Camino route in the interior of the province. The name means quarries, indicating the historical presence of stone extraction sites in the local terrain, typically granite quarried for construction of the farmhouses, bridges, and hórreo granaries characteristic of the Galician built environment.

The surrounding landscape is the green enclosed valley terrain typical of the A Coruña interior, with the rocky outcrops and granite geology that gave the locality its identity still visible in the stone construction of the surrounding farmsteads.
