Description

Edit

O Pedrouzo is a locality in the municipality of O Pino, A Coruña, Galicia, and the standard overnight stop on the final stage of the Camino Frances before Santiago de Compostela. The town provides full services including numerous albergues, restaurants, and shops catering specifically to pilgrims completing their final night on the route.

The surrounding terrain is the rolling green farmland of the A Coruña interior, with the Monte do Gozo, the Hill of Joy from which Santiago cathedral is traditionally first visible, lying ahead on the final stage. The name Pedrouzo may relate to a stone or rocky feature, pedra being the Galician word for stone.

For pilgrims, O Pedrouzo carries a particular emotional charge: it is the last sleep before Santiago, and the town’s sole function in the pilgrimage context is to rest and prepare for the final morning walk to the cathedral.
