Description

Edit

Nubledo is a small locality in the municipality of Corvera de Asturias, in Asturias, situated on the hillside terrain between the Oviedo metropolitan fringe and the approach to Avilés. The name may relate to nublado, meaning cloudy or overcast, a fitting description for the misty Atlantic hillside climate that characterises this part of central Asturias.

The surrounding landscape is the typical Asturian interior mosaic of enclosed green pasture, mixed oak and chestnut woodland, and traditional stone farmhouses with hórreo granaries. The terrain here is gentle and rolling, lacking the dramatic cliff or mountain features of the coast and the higher interior, but maintaining the lush intensity of colour that defines the Asturian countryside.

Pilgrims on the Camino del Norte pass through the Nubledo area on the descent from the Oviedo hinterland toward Avilés, on the final approach to the industrial port before the coastal continuation westward.
