Niembro

Niembro is a small locality in the municipality of Llanes, in Asturias, situated on the coastal clifftop terrain with a lighthouse on its headland. The area lies within or adjacent to protected coastal natural park terrain, with Atlantic heath, dune grassland, and the rugged limestone formations characteristic of the eastern Asturian coast.

The lighthouse on the Punta de Niembro is a distinctive landmark above the clifftop, with wide views across the Bay of Biscay and along the coast in both directions. The surrounding terrain combines the exposed clifftop scrub with the enclosed green valley pasture visible inland.

For pilgrims on the Camino del Norte, Niembro falls on the coastal clifftop section west of Celorio, in a stretch of the route that follows the exposed limestone headlands between Llanes and Ribadesella.
