Description

Edit

Liandres is a small locality in Cantabria, situated in the terrain between the coastal ridge and the valley below Comillas. The settlement occupies the sheltered inland slope where the exposed clifftop terrain transitions into the enclosed green valley approaching the town of Comillas.

The surrounding landscape has the mixed character of the Cantabrian coastal transition zone: enclosed meadow and woodland on the sheltered slopes, with the ridge terrain above and the more open valley floor of the Comillas approach below. Traditional stone farmhouses are distributed across the slope.

For pilgrims on the Camino del Norte, Liandres falls on the final slope descent into Comillas, one of the more architecturally distinctive towns on the entire route.
