La Llera

La Llera is a small locality in Asturias, situated in the valley terrain approaching Villaviciosa from the east. The name may derive from a Asturian toponym related to terrain type or a family name. The settlement occupies the typical Asturian rural landscape of the Villaviciosa corridor: enclosed green valleys, apple orchards on the slopes, and stone farmhouses with the characteristic hórreo granaries.

The Villaviciosa municipality is the recognised centre of Asturian natural cider production, and the surrounding terrain carries the apple orchards and working sidrerías that define this cultural landscape. The humid Atlantic climate and the fertile valley soils support dense orchard cultivation on both valley sides.
