Descripción
Chazeaux is a small hamlet on the Margeride plateau in the Haute-Loire department, in the final section of the high crossing before the route descends toward Saint-Alban-sur-Limagnole. The settlement has the dispersed granite farmhouse character typical of the high Margeride, where stone buildings and rough pasture define the landscape.
The terrain around Chazeaux begins to open slightly as the plateau tilts toward the Truyere river valley below. Pine forests and open moorland alternate on the approach to the descent, and the sky and the horizon feel more expansive here than on the enclosed gorge sections earlier.
