Caroyas

Caroyas is a small locality in the municipality of Valdés, in Asturias, situated on the clifftop terrain of the western Asturian coast between Luarca and the Navia estuary. The village occupies an elevated Atlantic-facing position with wide Bay of Biscay views.

The surrounding terrain is the exposed western Asturian clifftop: gorse, heather, and short grassland on the headland with the limestone cliff formations characteristic of this section. The route through Caroyas on the Camino del Norte follows the clifftop path along this isolated stretch of the coast.
