Description
Barcia is a small locality in the municipality of Valdés or Navia, in Asturias, situated in the valley terrain of the Navia river corridor. The village lies on the inland route between the western Asturian clifftop and the Navia estuary crossing, in the green valley that leads down to the river.
The Navia river is one of the principal watercourses of western Asturias, draining the inland mountain zone and flowing northward to the Bay of Biscay through a broad valley. The approach to the Navia crossing from the east involves descending from the exposed clifftop terrain into the sheltered river valley.
