Description

Edit

Alto do Vento, meaning height of the wind, is a high point or pass on the western ridges beyond Santiago de Compostela, in the province of A Coruña, Galicia. The name describes its exposed position on the ridge crest where wind is the defining atmospheric feature.

The point lies on the Camino de Fisterra and Muxía route in the early stages after leaving Santiago, on the forested and heath-covered ridge terrain that separates the Santiago basin from the valleys descending toward the coast. The wide views from the ridge crest and the open windswept character of the terrain give the pass a distinctive atmosphere.
