Afife

Afife is a civil parish in the municipality of Viana do Castelo, on the Atlantic coast between Carreço and Âncora. The village sits back slightly from the clifftop, with the coastal path running along the bluff edge above the rocky shore. The section of coast through Afife is considered one of the most scenically dramatic on the entire coastal Camino Português, with sheer cliffs, crashing Atlantic surf, and wide oceanic views.

The village itself has a traditional granite character, with a compact settlement in the valley behind the clifftop and smallholder farming on the more sheltered slopes. The exposed clifftop terrain carries coastal heath, bracken, and low scrub.
