A Seara

A Seara is a small locality in the municipality of Poio, in the province of Pontevedra, Galicia, situated on the Camino Espiritual route between the Poio monastery and the Combarro coastal path. The name derives from seara, the Galician word for a cereal field or cultivated grain plot.

The surrounding terrain has the coastal hinterland character typical of this stretch of the Pontevedra ría: green enclosed farmland, stone farmhouses, and the estuary visible below on the northern horizon. The grain field toponym reflects the traditional smallholder farming landscape that defined this stretch of the Rías Baixas hinterland before tourist development.
