Description

Edit

Zalduendo is a small hamlet in the province of Burgos, Castilla y León, on the Camino Frances route between San Juan de Ortega and Ages. The settlement has a quiet agricultural character in the open valley terrain approaching the Atapuerca area.

The surrounding landscape is the rolling cereal farmland typical of the Burgos interior, with the wide sky and distant horizon that characterise the Meseta approach. The Atapuerca ridge, famous for its prehistoric archaeological sites, is visible in the surrounding terrain.

For pilgrims, Zalduendo is a passage point with no services, part of the quiet rural corridor between the forested Oca mountains and the dramatic archaeological landscape of Atapuerca ahead.
