Description

Edit

Soianda is a small locality in the municipality of Tomar, in the Santarém district, situated on the ascending terrain north of Tomar toward the Serra de Aire limestone massif. The landscape here is predominantly forested, with pine, eucalyptus, and scrub covering the hillsides above the Nabão valley.

The settlement is modest and without infrastructure, set in the enclosed woodland landscape typical of this transition zone between the Tagus plain lowlands and the limestone highlands of the Serra de Aire e Candeeiros Natural Park.

For pilgrims on the Camino Português, Soianda falls on the long forested ascent north of Tomar, a section where the route climbs through woodland before emerging onto the Serra de Aire plateau.
