Santa Marina (Asturias)

Santa Marina is a small locality in the municipality of Cudillero, in Asturias, dedicated to Saint Marina, a popular saint in Galicia and Asturias traditionally associated with rural coastal communities. The settlement occupies clifftop terrain on the western Asturian coast, with Atlantic views northward and the enclosed green valleys of the hinterland to the south.

The surrounding terrain is the exposed coastal clifftop typical of western Asturias: gorse and heather scrub on the headland, with the Atlantic cliff edge dropping away to the north. The route through Santa Marina on the Camino del Norte forms part of the spectacular cliff walk approaching Cabo Vidio.
