Description

Edit

Santa Cruz de Bezana is a municipality in Cantabria immediately west of Santander, occupying the coastal and hillside terrain between the city boundary and the Piélagos municipal area. The municipality has a predominantly residential character, having developed as a suburban extension of the Santander metropolitan area while retaining some older village cores.

The territory includes both the exposed Atlantic coastal strip and the enclosed green valleys of the Cantabrian interior hinterland, giving it a varied landscape despite its suburban character. Some traditional stone farmhouses and rural fabric persist alongside the newer residential development.

For pilgrims on the Camino del Norte, Santa Cruz de Bezana is a transitional municipality on the westward exit from Santander, where the urban environment gradually gives way to the more rural Cantabrian coast terrain.
