Pieros

Pieros is a small locality in the province of León, on the Camino Frances between Cacabelos and Villafranca del Bierzo. The hamlet has a compact stone character in the vine-country landscape of the Bierzo valley.

The surrounding terrain is the ordered Bierzo wine landscape: vine rows on the valley slopes, stone walls separating plots, and the characteristic red-and-grey Bierzo soil visible in the cultivated fields. The valley narrows here as it approaches Villafranca, the mountains closing in on both sides.

For pilgrims, Pieros is a quiet passage point with no services, the vine-country character providing a pleasant corridor before the historic town of Villafranca appears ahead.
