Description

Edit

Pendueles is a small locality in the municipality of Llanes, in Asturias, situated on the coastal clifftop terrain south of the eastern Asturian limestone coast. The area is noted for its proximity to the dinosaur trackway sites preserved in the coastal limestone formations, including the La Franca and Ballota beach outcrops where Jurassic dinosaur footprints are visible in the rock at low tide.

The coastal geology here is characterised by the limestone karst formations of the Asturian coast, with the dramatic cliff profiles, sea caves, and tidal platforms that make this stretch of coastline scientifically and visually exceptional.

For pilgrims on the Camino del Norte, Pendueles falls on the coastal section approaching Llanes, one of the major historic towns of eastern Asturias. The nearby dinosaur trackways are a significant palaeontological attraction for visitors with time to explore the beach at low tide.
