Description

Edit

Peñaflor is a small locality in the municipality of Las Regueras, in Asturias, on the Camino Primitivo route between Oviedo and Grado. The name combines peña, meaning rock or crag, with flor, meaning flower, suggesting a terrain where wildflowers colonise a rocky outcrop, a common combination in the Asturian hillside landscape.

The surrounding terrain is the green enclosed valley landscape of central Asturias, with the Cubia river valley visible on the approach toward Grado. The route through Peñaflor forms part of the descent from the Oviedo ridge toward the Nalón valley floor.
